About Bronze and Fiberglass Sculptures

Gillie and Marc love creating beautiful sculptures - pieces of art that take up space in your home to make it more vibrant, interesting, and personal. With every piece created with love, the artists allow you to take home a little bit of the passion they have inside them, whether that be for one of the beautiful animals in the world they strive to save, or their iconic lovers, Rabbitwoman and Dogman. Gillie and Marc work in a range of materials for their sculptures including bronze, resin, fiberglass, stainless steel and ceramic.

Bronze Sculptures
Gillie and Marc have become extremely experienced at working in bronze, their favorite material. Their public sculptures, all expertly sculpted in bronze, can be seen around the globe and are loved by locals and tourist alike. But the artists don’t only create monumental bronze sculptures. They also scale them down so you can take one of their beautiful bronze masterpieces home with you.

The artists love working in bronze for many reasons. Bronze is a very hardy material and will last forever. The material has been used for millennia, with some 2500 year-old artworks still in existence today. It is an alloy made primarily from two chemical elements found naturally in the environment - copper and tin. These two natural elements are mined from ore and are found in many day to day items such as wiring and plumbing. Copper is also 100% recyclable, with around 40% of the world’s supply coming from recycled products. Silicon bronze contains no lead or any other elements that are harmful to either humans or the environment. Finally, bronze is very easy to clean, allowing you to enjoy your precious sculpture with minimal upkeep.

As experts in coloring bronze, Gillie and Marc enjoy experimenting with their sculptures, adding a splash of color to brighten the work, making it even more unique.

Fiberglass/Resin Sculptures
For the most part, fiberglass sculptures are the same as resin sculptures.

A resin sculpture is a work of art cast with the material fiberglass, a material that is perfect for making beautiful sculptures. Not only is it very light, but it is also incredibly durable and malleable making it the perfect material to mould into whatever intricate shape you like while knowing it will last for a very long time. It can be painted and glazed to make it look like any other medium such as stone, porcelain, bronze, or marble. It’s so versatile it gives the freedom to create anything you like! Because of this, resin has been used for a lot more than just art: it’s used in boats, roofing, and even surfboards.

Resin is a mixture of materials including urethane, silicone, epoxy and polyester. While these all make it very strong it is not indestructible. One of the major things to watch out for when caring for your sculpture is to give it some extra love when it starts to cool down. Cold temperatures can cause the resin to crack. As the temperature drops the material contracts. When the temperature rises the material expands. This change causes the material to crack. So once winter is on the way make sure you bring any outdoor resin sculptures inside to keep them nice and toasty.

When creating beautiful sculptures in fiberglass and resin, Gillie and Marc like to have a bit of fun. Sometimes works are crafted in one bold color, sometimes they are splashed with many colors, and sometimes they are even transparent.

Authenticity Certificate
For every purchase of a fiberglass or bronze sculpture you will receive a certificate of authenticity, titled, signed, dated and editioned by the artists.
